Sample Data Case Study
In cooperation with Reefscapers, sea trials with Snorkelbot were performed in early 2024 around Fulhadhoo island of the Maldives.
Reefscapers is a coral research and restoration organization: https://reefscapers.com

To showcase the possibilities of accurate filming over a grid of very shallow coral, a mission was sailed between two lines of waypoints. This results in straight routes during video recordings from opposite sides. If more videos are shot in this way, data sizes for Structure from Motion modelling are increasing as well.

The results of such a mission are by Snorkelbot software made into KML files for Google Earth. Here, the recorded videos are available on YouTube, linked in Google Earth icon balloons, so that location and camera direction of each frame is a given.
